Physical & Chemical Evaluation Study of Khalid & Al Khan Lagoons, Sharjah

The Khalid and Al Khan lagoons are important features of Sharjah and iconic tourist attractions. Bee’ah was appointed by Shurooq in June 2015 to undertake physical and chemical water quality studies of the Khalid & Al Khan Lagoons. The overall objectives of the study were to investigate and monitor water quality in Khalid Lagoon, and to propose & demonstrate the effectiveness of water quality preservation measures by numerical modelling, supported by hydrodynamics and water quality field data.

Dump-site Rehabilitation & Stabilization of Luluyah, Khorfokkan

The Luluyah dumpsite is in the northwestern region of Khorfokkan in Luluyah area. The Sharjah Government had decided to rehabilitate the site and promote development in the area. Upon the request of the Department of Public Works (DPW), Bee’ah was contracted to evaluate the site, estimate the volume of waste at the dumpsite, and to carry out a waste composition study to find the nature and quantities of the dumped materials. Bee’ah was also asked to develop a Site Clean-Up, Rehabilitation, and Stabilization Plan as per international environmental standards.

Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Network (AAQMN) for Sharjah

Sharjah is the industrial heartland of the UAE, accounting for more than 40% of the country's industrial GDP. Monitoring air quality is important in protecting the air environment, public health, and promoting sustainable economic development.

Bee’ah identified a pressing need for AAQM in Sharjah and established the Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Network for the emirate. Bee’ah has established 6 AAQM stations, and 1 mobile AAQM station across Sharjah.

ECS gives dynamic environmental enthusiasts the unique opportunity to join its internship program.
ECS is seeking candidates for our 2018-2019 internship programs, where;

  • Interns will perform routine environmental tasks using standard procedures under the supervision of our professional team.
  • Interns will support one or more experienced environmental specialists, in the performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations.
  • Interns will have unique tasks that support larger projects as well as experience the day-to-day workings of specialists.
  • Interns may perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which help them build a strong network within the ECS community and with fellow interns.

The ideal candidate will have successfully completed their sophomore year and be actively enrolled in an accredited 4-year college or university program. Interns must be actively enrolled in a technical field of study such as Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Health, Chemical Engineering, Urban Planning, Renewable Energy, or any other environment related majors.
